Curtis Hanson (1945-2016) was a renowned American film director, producer, and screenwriter, best known for his work on the neo-noir crime film “L.A. Confidential” (1997), which earned him an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. His other significant works include “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle” (1992), “The River Wild” (1994), “Wonder Boys” (2000), and “8 Mile” (2002). In 2004, he was inducted into the Producers Guild of America Hall of Fame. Before his illustrious career in film, Hanson worked as a freelance photographer and editor for Cinema magazine.
