Chris Herren, an American former professional basketball player, gained notoriety due to his battle with drug addiction, which was chronicled in the 2011 ESPN film “Unguarded.” After overcoming his addiction and ending his basketball career, which included playing in the NBA and various international leagues, Herren became a motivational speaker. He established The Herren Project, a non-profit organization offering support for substance abuse treatment and prevention.
