Carol Grace (September 11, 1924 â July 21, 2003) was a multifaceted American actress and author, often referred to as Carol Marcus Saroyan or Carol Matthau. She gained recognition for her roles in films such as “The Big Heat” (1953), “Not as a Stranger” (1955), and “Gunsmoke” (1955), as well as the television series “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” (1956-1958). Besides her acting career, Grace penned a memoir called “Among The Porcupines: A Memoir,” which was published in the mid-1990s. She was also a dedicated civil rights activist during the 1950s, joining the Hollywood branch of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) and collaborating with the United Nations on human rights issues.
