Robert Frederick Chelsea Moore, commonly known as Bobby Moore, was a renowned English footballer and national team captain. He gained fame for guiding England to their sole World Cup triumph in 1966. Throughout his career, Moore played for West Ham United and Fulham football clubs, achieving victories in the FA Cup in 1964 and the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1965 with West Ham. In 1964, he was honored as the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year and was later inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2002. Moore held the record for 108 caps for England as an outfield player until 2009. Additionally, he is a member of the World Team of the 20th Century and is commemorated with a bronze statue at Wembley Stadium’s entrance. Sadly, Bobby Moore passed away on February 24, 1993, at 51 years old.
