Elisha Archibald “Archie” Manning III is a renowned former American football quarterback who spent the majority of his 13-season NFL career with the New Orleans Saints, from 1971 to 1982. He also briefly played for the Houston Oilers and Minnesota Vikings. Manning gained recognition as one of the league’s top quarterbacks and was an All-American at the University of Mississippi.
Apart from his illustrious football career, Manning has also made a name for himself as a successful businessman and philanthropist. In 2000, he authored the book “Manning: A Father, His Sons and a Football Legacy,” which delves into his own football journey as well as those of his two sons, Peyton and Eli, both of whom became accomplished NFL quarterbacks and two-time Super Bowl champions.
Archie Manning’s legacy transcends his personal achievements on the field, as he has also made a significant impact on the sport through his sons and grandson, Arch Manning, a highly sought-after high school quarterback recruit. Notably, Archie led the New Orleans Saints to their first .500 season in 1979, earning a spot on the Pro Bowl roster for the second consecutive year.
