Anne Bradstreet, the first published author in North America, is renowned for her book “The Tenth Muse Lately Sprung Up in America.” Her most well-known work, the poem “To My Dear and Loving Husband,” delves into themes of love and immortality. She also authored “Several Poems Compiled with Great Variety of Wit and Learning” and “Meditations Divine and Moral.” Her writings frequently centered on religion, love, and family, making her a prominent poet in seventeenth-century New England. Notably, Bradstreet was the first female New World Poet and among the earliest poets to compose English verse in the American colonies.
