Angela Paton, an American actress renowned for her role as the strict motel owner in the popular movie “Groundhog Day,” also appeared in other notable films such as “American Wedding,” “The Wedding Singer,” “The Last Best Year,” and “She-Devil.” A founding member of the Actors’ Gang theatre company, Paton passed away on May 26, 2016, at the age of 86. Often described as a ‘natural comic’ and one of San Francisco’s ‘legends of the local stage,’ she was a veteran of the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) and co-founded the Berkeley Stage Company.
