André Schürrle is a retired German professional footballer who played as a forward. He is best known for his time at clubs such as Mainz 05, Bayer Leverkusen, Chelsea, and Borussia Dortmund. Schürrle gained international recognition as a member of the German national team, winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Schürrle began his career as a defender before switching to an attacker. He made his professional debut for Mainz in 2009 and quickly established himself as a regular starter. His performances earned him moves to Bayer Leverkusen in 2011 and Chelsea in 2013.
At Chelsea, Schürrle made a promising start but struggled to maintain his form. He was eventually sold to Wolfsburg in 2015 and then joined Borussia Dortmund in 2016. He made over 100 appearances for Dortmund and scored 27 goals.
