Al Capone (1899â1947) was a well-known American gangster and crime boss during the Prohibition era. He gained infamy for his involvement in organized crime, especially his control over illegal bootlegging, gambling, and prostitution businesses. Capone’s most infamous acts include his role in the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre and his efforts to supply alcohol during Prohibition. As the co-founder and boss of the Chicago Outfit, he ruled over organized crime in Chicago from 1925 to 1931.
