Tom Morris, a renowned Scottish golfer, golf course designer, and clubmaker, significantly contributed to the evolution of golf in the 19th century. He was a four-time Open Championship winner and designed prominent golf courses, including the Old Course at St Andrews. Additionally, Morris developed golf clubs and balls that helped advance the sport. His wife, Margaret Morris, was a skilled golfer who secured victories in four of the first seven Women’s Championships. The couple had four children, one of whom, Tommy Morris Jr., also went on to become a successful golfer.
Apart from his golfing achievements, Tom Morris is recognized as a theatre director, particularly for his work on the stage adaptation of ‘War Horse’ and his association with the innovative British theatre company Complicite.
