Suzanne Pleshette was a renowned American actress, best known for her role as Emily Hartley, the witty and self-assured wife of psychologist Bob Hartley, in the 1970s hit sitcom “The Bob Newhart Show.” Her performance in this iconic role earned her Emmy nominations in 1977 and 1978. Pleshette’s other notable works include appearances in “Alfred Hitchcock Presents,” “The Birds,” “Rome Adventure,” “Support Your Local Gunfighter,” and “The Ugly Dachshund.” She also received a Theatre World Award for her performance in the Broadway play “Compulsion.” A passionate advocate for animal rights, Pleshette actively supported various animal welfare organizations and, along with her husband Tom Poston, chaired a fundraiser for the Wildlife Care Center in 1989. Suzanne Pleshette passed away on January 19, 2008, at the age of 70.
