Shirley Jones, who was named after the famous child star Shirley Temple, is a renowned American actress and singer recognized for her roles in various musicals and television shows. She rose to fame in the 1950s with her performances in “Oklahoma!” and later appeared in “Carousel” and “The Music Man.” Jones also starred in the well-known TV series “The Partridge Family” and earned an Emmy for her role in “Police Story.” Her other notable works include “Elmer Gantry,” “Cinderella,” and “42nd Street.” Although she was offered the role of Carol Brady in “The Brady Bunch,” Jones declined to prevent being typecast as a mother on television.
