English actor and singer Sam Riley gained recognition for his portrayal of Ian Curtis, the lead singer of the 1970s post-punk band Joy Division, in the biographical film “Control.” His performance received widespread critical acclaim. Riley has also appeared in notable films such as “Maleficent,” “On the Road,” and “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.” He was nominated for the British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Brighton Rock.” Before concentrating on his acting career, Riley played guitar in the Leeds-based band 10,000 Things.
