Robert Graves (1895-1985) was a renowned British writer and poet, recognized for his historical novels and reinterpretations of Greek mythology. As a World War I veteran, he chronicled his experiences in his autobiography, “Goodbye to All That.” Graves gained further acclaim for his works “I, Claudius” and “Claudius the God,” which were eventually adapted into a television series. Some of his other notable works include “The White Goddess,” “The Greek Myths,” and “The Siege and Fall of Troy.” Besides being a prolific writer, Graves was also a scholar and translator of Spanish poetry, compiling an anthology in the 1950s.
