Rick Allen, an English drummer known for his work with the rock band Def Leppard, joined the group in 1978 and has since played on all their albums. Despite losing his left arm in a 1984 car accident, Allen is celebrated for his one-handed drumming skills, which are showcased in hit albums like Hysteria and Pyromania, as well as songs such as “Love Bites” and “Pour Some Sugar on Me.” As a member of Def Leppard, he has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Apart from his musical accomplishments, Allen is passionate about art and founded the Raven Drum Foundation to enrich the lives of veterans, individuals, and communities through drumming. His artwork, often featuring drum kits and other musical instruments, has been exhibited in galleries across the U.S. In 2023, Music Radar readers voted him ‘Best Rock Drummer In The World.’ To play the parts he used to perform with his left arm, Allen employs custom-manufactured cable routing by Whirlwind and four electronic pedals for his left foot. After being assaulted in 2023 and hitting his head on the pavement, Allen shared his personal journey of recovery. Despite facing numerous challenges, he continues to inspire as a talented drummer and visual artist.
