Olga Valentinovna Korbut, a Belarusian gymnast, represented the Soviet Union in international competitions. She rose to prominence after securing four gold medals and two silver medals at the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games. Renowned for her exceptional skills, bold moves, and captivating style, Korbut pioneered the backflip to catch on the uneven bars, now referred to as the Korbut Flip. Additionally, she was the first to execute a backward somersault on the beam. In recognition of her achievements, she was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1988.
