Mike Shinoda is a musician, rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer from California. He is best known for co-founding the nu-metal band Linkin Park in 1996 as a lead guitarist, pianist, and backing vocalist. Moreover, he is recognized for his contribution to the band’s multi-platinum soundtracks, including Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Shinoda has also released numerous solo albums and collaborated with many artists in the music industry. He has worked on projects like Fort Minor and Post Traumatic, and contributed to soundtracks for movies like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and The Raid: Redemption.
Mike Shinoda derived his name from his father’s Japanese heritage. He was born Michael Kenji Shinoda on February 11, 1977, in Agoura Hills, California.
Before joining Linkin Park, Shinoda was part of a hip-hop group called Xero, which later became Hybrid Theory. The group struggled to find success and went through several personnel changes before finally settling on their current lineup.
