Megan Draper (née Calvet), portrayed by Jessica Paré, is a prominent character in the AMC drama series “Mad Men” (2007-2015). Born in Montreal, Canada, Megan’s journey takes her from a secretary at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce to a copywriter and Don Draper’s wife. Her ambition to succeed as an actress often strains their relationship.
After studying English literature at McGill University, Megan moves to New York to pursue acting. While on tour with “Bye Bye Birdie,” she meets Don, leading to a long-distance romance. In New York, she balances acting with secretarial work at Don’s agency, eventually becoming his creative partner.
Megan’s notable achievement is co-creating the iconic “I’d Like to Buy the World a Coke” campaign, winning her a Clio Award. Despite her success, her marriage to Don faces challenges, resulting in their divorce in 1969.
Post-divorce, Megan continues acting but doesn’t replicate her Sterling Cooper success. A talented singer and dancer, she showcases her skills in memorable musical numbers on the show. Fluent in French and English, Megan is also a Montreal Canadiens fan and a smoker.
