He spent his childhood in Italy, where his father played professional basketball. From a young age, Kobe showcased exceptional basketball skills, which eventually led to his selection as the 13th overall pick by the Charlotte Hornets in the 1996 NBA draft. He was immediately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he played for his entire 20-year NBA career.
