Joko Widodo, commonly known as Jokowi, is an Indonesian politician and businessman who has been serving as the President of Indonesia since 2014. Notably, he is the first president in the country’s history to not have an elite political or military background. Widodo has focused on improving infrastructure, combating corruption, and fostering economic growth in Indonesia. Some of his most significant accomplishments include initiating the National Health Insurance program, building new airports and seaports, and expanding the nation’s digital economy. Prior to his presidency, he held positions as the governor of Jakarta and mayor of Solo. Widodo is also well-known for his passion for heavy metal music and attending concerts in Indonesia. As the governor of Jakarta, he achieved an all-time high approval rating, making him Indonesia’s most popular politician.
