Ian Fleming was a renowned English author, journalist, and naval intelligence officer, primarily recognized for creating the legendary character, James Bond. His most prominent works comprise twelve James Bond novels and two short story collections. Additionally, Fleming authored the children’s book ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ and several non-fiction books recounting his intelligence experiences during World War II. As a Commander in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, he received the Order of the British Empire for his service. Fleming had a keen interest in collecting rare and antique books, including a valuable first edition of John Donne’s poems. He also admired the artist Aubrey Beardsley, incorporating a Beardsley illustration in his novel ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’.
