Henry Wilcoxon (1905-1984) was a renowned English actor, producer, and military officer who gained fame for his roles in various Hollywood movies. He is best remembered for portraying Marc Antony in Cecil B. DeMille’s “Cleopatra” (1934) and for his production contributions to “Samson and Delilah” (1949). Wilcoxon also appeared in notable films such as “Mrs. Miniver” (1942) and “The Ten Commandments” (1956). During World War I, he was awarded the Military Cross. In 1920, he co-founded the Laguna Playhouse and remained actively involved with the theater throughout his life. A fascinating aspect of Wilcoxon’s career is that he not only starred as a leading man in many of DeMille’s films but also worked as DeMille’s associate producer in his later projects.
