Heather O’Rourke (December 27, 1975 â February 1, 1988) was a renowned American child actress, primarily recognized for her portrayal of Carol Anne Freeling in the Poltergeist film series. She rose to fame at a young age and instantly became a star with her chilling delivery of the iconic line, “They’re heeeere,” in the original 1982 Poltergeist film. O’Rourke also graced popular TV shows such as Happy Days and made numerous guest appearances. Sadly, she died at the age of 12 due to complications from intestinal stenosis.
