Evan Hunter, born Salvatore Albert Lombino, was a renowned American author and screenwriter. He gained fame for his 87th Precinct novels, which he wrote under the pseudonym Ed McBain. This series, spanning over five decades, comprised more than 50 novels. Hunter also penned the screenplay for Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 film “The Birds” and collaborated with the director on several other projects. Among his other notable works are “Blackboard Jungle” and “The Birds of Prey”. Throughout his career, Hunter received numerous accolades for his contributions to crime fiction, including the prestigious Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America.
