Born on December 15, 1939, David Clark is an accomplished English musician, songwriter, record producer, and entrepreneur. He rose to fame as the leader, drummer, and manager of the 1960s beat group, The Dave Clark Five. As one of the pioneering British Invasion bands, they successfully broke into the United States market with hit songs such as “Glad All Over” and “Bits and Pieces”. Clark’s dynamic drumming style and managerial role significantly contributed to the band’s popularity.
Apart from his musical pursuits, Clark has also delved into various business ventures, showcasing his entrepreneurial prowess. He has produced and directed numerous music films and shows, including “Having a Wild Weekend” and “Time: The Musical”. A close friend of the late Freddie Mercury, the lead vocalist of Queen, Clark played a crucial role in promoting the band’s music after Mercury’s passing. He produced several posthumous Queen albums and narrated the Queen musical, “We Will Rock You”.
