Daddy Owen, a Kenyan contemporary Christian music (CCM) artist and songwriter, was born on January 29, 1982. He gained popularity with his hit songs “Mbona” and “Saluti” and has received numerous accolades, including Groove Awards’ Male Artiste of the Year and Song of the Year. Owen has collaborated with well-known musicians such as Rufftone, Kambua, and Benachi, and his other notable works include “Vanity”, “System ya Kapungala”, and “Wewe Ni Mungu”.
A member of the Kenya Assemblies of God Church, Daddy Owen is signed to the Beats & Blessings family. His elder brother Rufftone gave him his name, and although he had a passion for athletics in his early years, he ultimately chose to pursue a career in music. Daddy Owen is happily married to Farida Wambui, with whom he has a son. An interesting fact about him is that his song ‘Yesu’ was the first he released with a music video, marking his entry into the mainstream music scene.
