She is best known for portraying the horror hostess character Elvira, which gained popularity with her show “Elvira’s Movie Macabre” in the 1980s. Peterson has also appeared in several films and TV shows throughout her career, including “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure,” “The Working Girls,” “Echo Park,” and “All About Evil.” She has been nominated for various awards throughout her career, including a Saturn Award for Best Actress in 1988. Peterson continues to perform as Elvira and has maintained a cult following over the years.
