Brent Harvey, often known by his nickname “Boomer,” is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the North Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Born on 14 May 1978, he is a North Melbourne legend and has been inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame. Harvey holds the record for the most matches played by an individual in VFL/AFL history, having broken Michael Tuck’s previous record in 2016 by playing a total of 432 games. Some of his other accomplishments include winning the North Melbourne Football Club Best and Fairest award four times, being named in the AFL All Australian team six times, and receiving the AFL Player Association’s Robert Rose Award for Most Courageous Player three times. In addition to his football career, Harvey is an aviation enthusiast who obtained his private pilot’s license in 2007. He has also been involved in promoting the Angel Flight charity, which organizes non-emergency flights to transport rural residents to medical appointments in the city free of charge.
