Bob Keeshan, an American television producer and actor, was best known for creating and starring as Captain Kangaroo in the long-running children’s TV show of the same name, which aired from 1955 to 1984. In addition to this iconic role, Keeshan portrayed Clarabell the Clown on the “Howdy Doody Show” and hosted the talk show “Tinker’s Workshop.” As a writer, producer, and advocate for children’s rights, he contributed to various other projects, including “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis,” “Breakfast with the Arts,” and “The Banana Splits Adventure Hour.” Keeshan passed away on January 23, 2004, at the age of 76.
