Born in London in 1960, Bernard Rose is an accomplished English filmmaker and screenwriter, widely regarded as a pioneer in the field of digital filmmaking. He has directed a diverse range of films, including the horror movies Paperhouse (1988) and Candyman (1992), historical romances such as Immortal Beloved (1994) and Anna Karenina (1997), and the independent drama Ivans xtc (2000), which earned him a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Director. Additionally, Rose has worked on projects like Frankenstein (2015), Samurai Marathon (2019), the TV series Snatch, and has written the screenplay for Boxing Day. In 1984, he won the Best British Short Film award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival for his film The Medusa Touch.
