Amy Elizabeth Dowden, born in Caerphilly, Wales, United Kingdom, is a talented Welsh professional dancer and choreographer. She began dancing at the young age of 3 and trained at the Louise Ryan School of Dance and the Caerphilly School of Dance. Dowden later pursued her passion for performing arts at the University of West London.

Dowden’s professional dancing career took off in 2009, and she has since performed in various dance shows and competitions, including “Burn the Floor” and “Dancing with the Stars” (Ireland). In 2017, she joined the professional dancer lineup of the popular BBC One dance competition series “Strictly Come Dancing.” Throughout her time on the show, Dowden has partnered with celebrities such as Brian Conley, Danny John-Jules, and Kelvin Fletcher, with whom she won the show in 2019.

Throughout her career, Dowden has achieved numerous accolades. In 2007, she won the Welsh Open Youth Latin Championship and represented Wales at the World Latin Championships the following year. In 2017, she reached the semi-finals of “Dancing with the Stars” (Ireland) and, along with her partner Ben Jones, became the first all-British pair to win the British Open Latin Dance Championship in over 30 years. Dowden’s success continued as she won “Strictly Come Dancing” in 2019 with Kelvin Fletcher and was nominated for the “Best TV Judge” award at the National Television Awards in 2020.

In addition to her dancing career, Dowden is a qualified yoga instructor and a talented singer. She has performed in several musicals and is an advocate for body positivity and self-love. Dowden married her fellow dancer Ben Jones in July 2022, and the couple announced their pregnancy in May 2023. With her impressive achievements and dedication to her craft, Amy Dowden continues to be a prominent figure in the world of dance and entertainment.
